Kayla started racing in August 2008, after going to the track to watch her brother race. Not having the funding to buy her a go kart, Bliss track owner Joe Barber put her in one of his. She only competed in 7 purple plate events but, won 5 heat races and 3 features. At the end of the season we purchased the kart from Joe with plans on moving her up to JR1 blue plate in 2009.
In 2009 she raced JR1 at Bliss and finished an overall 4th in points. She was also awarded 2009 Junior Division Rookie Of The Year. Kayla also raced a handful of dirt track races at Limerock and Ransomville Speedways.
2010 was an incredible year for Kayla. Winning both JR1 championships @ Bliss International Speedway & pulling off 2 indoor wins for a total of 11 feature wins. Only once in 20 races did she not finish in the top 3 and of course that would happen after a 10 hour ride down to Greensboro, NC.
Even though Kayla is cutting back on racing, to play travel softball, she will continue to race when possible & can't wait for the indoor season to start again. "I love racing indoors, the competition is top notch".
